My name is Lanie Hyman and I'm 15 years old.  I have been doing gymnastics for as long as I can remember. My parents knew I was destined to be a gymnast when I was just a baby learning to crawl.  Instead of using my knees to crawl like most babies, I'd pull myself across the floor, sitting in a complete middle split!  I've grown up in the gym, and it truly is my home away from home. I train 20+ hours a week and I love every minute of it.  I've decided to go to a private school, rather than my local high school, to devote even more time to my love of the sport.  I'm very competitive and push myself to be the best I can be.

There are many aspects of gymnastics that I love, especially competing and learning new skills. During competitions and training, I'm consistent and a natural competitor.  I'm often referred to by my coaches as being "the hitter" of our team. I'm a supportive and dedicated teammate, motivating myself and other gymnasts to rise to the challenge and overcome obstacles.
